The origin of the Order

The Order of the Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon, also known as the Order of the Poor Knights of Christ and the Temple of Solomon, is one of the most fascinating and mysterious organizations of medieval Europe. Its origins date back to the Crusades, when in 1118, Hugo de Payens and eight companions took vows of poverty, chastity, obedience, and fighting for the faith before the Patriarch of Jerusalem. The order was founded out of a need to protect pilgrims traveling to the Holy Land, who were at risk of being attacked by bandits. The Templars quickly gained fame for their discipline and military skills, but also for the mysteries that surrounded them. Their influence grew with the wealth they amassed through banking and trade. Although the order was disbanded in the 14th century, its legend and influence survive to this day, inspiring numerous conspiracy theories and cultural works. Such is the fascination with the Templars that they are still the subject of study by historians and history buffs.
